About

You know those misunderstandings that happen when you travel, or move to another country? Like when you meet somebody new, and you say hello and give the person a kiss on the cheek, then you find yourself in an awkward situation because the person is not used to strangers kissing their cheek? Sometimes things that are normal behavior in one culture can be considered extremely rude in another and that can be really embarrassing, frustrating, or just hilarious.

Now, can you imagine dating somebody from another culture? That is, having those little misunderstandings all the time. Or, what is even worse, having misunderstandings and not realizing that is a cultural matter. And in the end you think that it’s personal, that the other person doesn’t like you, or is mad at you.

Come on! Relationships are hard enough by itself, we don’t need more obstacles. However, life sometimes plays tricks on us and we end-up liking somebody that was born and raised in a country with a very different social code. So, if you’re interested in laughing about some cultural misunderstandings and maybe in the end learn some intercultural coding, please take part in this blog by reading Miss Ella’s embarrassing stories, commenting, and telling us your own intercultural experiences.

  1. Your about Page is very interesting and I look forward to reading some of Miss. Ella's embarrassing stories. I'm wondering who Miss. Ella is exactly. Will you explain about her further in your first blog post? Will this blog be strictly about Miss. Ella or does she have friends who also input some of there unfortunate tales of misunderstandings? I love the concept.

  3. I'm very interested in your blog seeing as I frequently deny cheek kisses from my Italian relatives. I'd always wondered why I was receiving reproachful looks.

  5. I really enjoy your blog post. It keeps the readers and audience interested coming back for more. What I really like about your intro is that you provide a question for the audience think about.

  6. Haven traveled to 20+ countries from the Americas to Europe, the middle east and beyond, I am very familiar with cultural clashes, some more extreme than others. Anyhow, it's a very interesting topic, I can't wait to read more.

    1. Hi Chris! That's so interesting, why don't to you write some of your misunderstandings travelling abroad on "Your Turn" page? We would love to hear some of your stories.

  7. I love your picture of the girl on your "about" page. She makes it pretty obvious what you are going to talk about. Furthermore, I can relate to the cultural misunderstandings. I'm from Switzerland and I could probably write a book about all the funny, embarrassing or frustrating moments I've experienced the past two years in the USA. Cant wait to read some of Miss Ella's adventures.
